Welcoming back the new year, and a fresh look at a new member of the staff…

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

The New Year has come, new opportunities are on the horizon and cherishing those precious moments is what makes it all count. Though it may seem like just yesterday we were living the era of freedom, rebellion, counter-culture of the 1960’s – or those who were alive at the time at least- there is a common factor which one can help bridge generation gaps and such is exactly what can be found @ GenerationsStore’s!

Wow…what a long year ’08 has been! Filled from the top down with all sorts of orders and never ending phone calls, it was hard to simply sit down and gaze at the simplicity of the Lava Lamp. That simple touch of elegance and sleek design kept me awake and thinking of what things used to be like. Oh! I almost forgot to introduce myself…my name is Gian and since late last year I began working here at Generations alongside my uncle who I greatly admire. I have a strong belief in helping this business grow and develop. I have been put in charge of blogging and also to a large extend being in charge of the marketing department. So far, I feel like this has helped me advance in my own interest in business and marketing for which I am in the process of making a career out. My plan is helping to give a more personal touch to this blog and share some real experiences and in the process give you guys a more in depth look at what the products being offered here are all about. I would like to share with you guys some anecdotes of how it has been getting to know this business.

Bringing it back to…let’s see the last weeks of 2008—a time where we were on lockdown working for many hours straight non-stop, processing order, getting through to customers, setting up boxes, and with care placing and shipping off the hottest products of the late season. I remember after hours of work, sitting down along side my cousin here at work, sipping down some cold hard Monster energy drinks, looking back at the storage and realizing what a pleasant experience it must be to end a days work, whether it’d be here or anywhere where some laborious work drains your body of fluids and enjoying the moment with a Drink Hat, freeing body from an extra load of motion but at the same time cooling the soul down and revitalizing the mind. Whether you enjoy it at any locality or whatever time of day it hits you to just relax, pop it on and let the day unwind.

I remember a time where I was asked to provide some assistance here at work in my pre-days as an employer. I happily and ready provided some much needed aid and as a payment I remember receiving a much appreciated reparation for my help. What I got that day was iLava Speaker Docking Station! This item, I can say, has truly been one of my all time favorites, until this day I use it on an every day basis. Whenever I’m in the mood of settling with some tunes and listening to my favorite song, I reach for my handy iPod which I easily place on my iLava, choose that just right song that fits the mood, and lastly turn on the small woofer that send the mood enhancing lows of a song which add to the overall atmosphere. I know it to be a very useful item also by the fact that it fits most iPods, whether we are talking about the little nanos up to the larger videos. Any time I have someone at my house with and iPod and they reach for it, then it helps to provide varied entertainment. And the fun doesn’t end there, while I am listening to some Hip-Hop, Reggaeton, Salsa or whatever…the iLava simultaneously recharges my iPod as if it were hooked up to my PC! On my daily routine I leave it to regain charge overnights and in my mornings I grab my stuff, pick up my iPod and I’m ready to tackle yet another day.

Invitation to attend the Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama.

Monday, January 12th, 2009

Thank You Connecticut State Representative Chris Murphy for the invitation to attend the Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama.

I would like to thank Connecticut State Representative Chris Murphy for the invitation to attend the Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama.

“This is a special moment in my life that I have never imagined would have happened. I never thought that I would have been able to ever attend a presidential inauguration, especially one as historic as this. I will be attending the inauguration with my wife and will also be representing my mother who has passed away. She was always current with the news and always wanted to witness and live during a historic moment in the history of the United States. I’m sure she would have been very happy to have been a part of this moment.”

To celebrate this special time, we will be adding to our line of products a special collector’s edition Barack Obama lava lamp:
As  Larry Gutkin, the CEO of the Chicago Company that makes the Obama lava lamp, said.

“The idea of launching a presidential lava lamp came from Obama’s demeanour and personality as much as the fact that both he and we are Chicago-rooted,” Gutkin said of the lamp, which is to be in shops within six to eight weeks.
The custom designed resin base and cap feature three dimensional stars, stripes and bunting in a patriotic red, white and blue color scheme. A color photograph of a smiling President elect Obama, set against a blue and red background, is framed in a star rimmed medallion set in the center of the Lava Lamp base.”

Victor Espinoza, originally from Peru, now a U.S. citizen founded GenerationStores.com Inc. in 1999 with the idea of moving his retail stores located in malls around Connecticut to the internet. GenerationStores.com sells lava lamps, beaded curtains, beanbags and other retro home décor for the home and office.
