Wait, you’re saying clocks can be cool?

Wait, you’re saying clocks can be cool? Tell me more about the Roller-Rink Luncheonette…

Ok so you may say to yourself, how much fun could a measly clock be? Yes I know that most of you will go on and say that you cannot find anything intriguing, interesting or not even a dash of excitement in a clock. We all have come to know your everyday clocks, yes the ones that have the three hands and that move so slow that it seems time may very well be infinite. Can we not all recall sitting down in math class staring at the clock and seeing time go by slower than a herd of turtles stampeding through peanut butter? For some, clocks represent all that is boring bottled in the shape of an object nicely sealed with a chrome finish. But you happen to be in the right place at the right time. If time is slow enough as it is, why not encourage oneself to purchase that right clock that can add excitation to an otherwise boring wall. Take for example, the 3D Neon-Diner Roller Girl Clock, a prime example of the magic of the 50s. Putting together some totally hip 50s fonts, the iconic carhops and delicious 5c soda pop; this is an unforgettable piece which for the people of this era was an unforgettable experience.

March 20th, 2009

Simply just a little look at the history of the Beaded Curtain..and what they are all about!

Beaded curtains with all their magnificent history have become a very popular item than ever before. Weather we begin by explaining their purpose as a conventional decorative item on a doorway or an innovative way such as a beaded wall hanging, these can be specifically highlighted by such curtains as the painted bamboo or acrylic styles. Since having been around for hundreds of years, these curtains became popular during the 1960’s influenced by Eastern and African styles. There are many types and styles of curtains made from a variety of materials including acrylic, wood, glass, bamboo, shells, plastic beads, hand painted bamboo, faux metal beads, mirrors, crystals and gemstones. These beaded curtains will provide either a casual or an elegant touch to any doorway/bedroom and can also be more large-scale including special decoration which could complement weddings, corporate events, and trade shows. Specifically depending whether you go for acrylics with intricate designs such as Emerald Cut Beaded Curtains, Faux Metal Balls Steel Gray Beaded Curtain, or works of art as the hand painted Bamboo curtains specifically majestic ones as the Waterfall Bamboo Beads, Sunset Palm Tree, Parked on Beach. These wonderful additions to your home have very practical functions; these can be to cover a whole doorway or be used as a room divider by hanging them on each side of a space between two rooms. These Beaded curtains can be used as window curtains, bed curtains or canopies. It is possible to also use them to partition a room into two sections, to separate a sleeping area, or home office.
As we mentioned how practical these beaded curtains are, we would like to share a photograph of one of our customers, Indra Rami from ramismandap.com that proficiently took advantage of its many uses, here in a wedding scenario.

Lava Lamp blobs stay at the bottom of the globe? Find out…

Why do the Lava Lamp blobs stay at the bottom of the globe? Find out…

Commonly asked questions about a Lava Lamp’s globe wax

So it’s been a few days since you made that perfect order of your new Yellow Wax Purple Liquid 20oz Lava Lamp, excitedly you take the box, open it up and with a gleaming eye you stare into the beautiful and excellent craftsmanship of these lamps. You take the power cord and proceed to insert it into the wall socket…then you wait as you should, allowing the wax to warm up and begin to flow exquisitely around its liquid. But…much to your surprise, this does not occur! Yes you may throw a fit as you see the wax solidified on the base as inanimate as a rock, but have no fear because this little problem can be easily fixed and is no reason to re-package it and ask for a return/refund. Though the chances of this occurring are simply infrequent, it has been reported by some customers as something that caused them a little irritation.

So, problem: The wax on the base of these lava lamps is placed with a small coil which encircles the wax on its lower side.

When the lamp is plugged in this turns on a light bulb within the lower base which heats up and warms up the coil, thus melting the wax.

But, when certain factors as the cold, specially now in the winter due to our shipping center being up in Connecticut, have on effect on the wax, there is the possibility of it hardening to a level in which the coil’s heat cannot get it started for that first push.
Solution: Very simple actually, if you have a source of indirect strong heat such as a hairdryer/blower then this can provide just that right amount of a jolt to get it started. Make sure the globe is situated on its base and that the lamp is turned on as normal to heat on its own for a good 15-20 minutes. After this, proceed to heat it with your hair blower aimed at the wax, and heat through its sides around the globe to induce flow in a circular motion.

Of course if after attempting this, it turns out that it is not working, then carefully hold the lamp without its lower base which has a light bulb in it, and heat directly towards the base where the coils is located…afterward when the wax melts and begins to flow, place it back into its regular base with the power cord hooked up so the light bulb continues to heat as normal.

Nifty alternatives to conventional Lava Lamps

March 3rd, 2009

There is much debate that goes on about battery operated lamps and as to whether they can be as wonderful to gaze at as a conventional lava lamp or if it could serve decoratively just as its counterpart. Though we get many questions asking as to their efficiency, we can proudly lay out the facts about them. First off, these lamps are Lava inspired but do not have the same parts and function differently. As you may know conventional Lava Lamps consist of a light bulb inside the lamp which heats up the water and the lava so that they react and spread apart causing the blobs of wax to float around inside. Of course in order for this to occur the lamp needs a lot of heat for the reaction to occur and thus the lamp needs to be plugged in and turned on. Because of this reason battery operated lamps would be very inefficient since battery power would be drained quickly and the user would need to go through several packs of battery. The solution to people wishing to enjoy the wonder of a lava lamp with the portability of a smaller lamp can turn to the Battery Operated LAVA ® LED SPIN LAMP.
or also Battery Operated Glitter Lamp Lamp Many wonder as to what purpose these lamps may have, truthfully we have gathered testimonies of customers who gave us reports of some of the ways they put them to use, most typically as a centerpiece. Other great uses that we can suggest are to use them as decorative items for weddings, anniversaries and also they could be placed simply in bedrooms, dorms and such. Specifically the LAVA ® LED SPIN LAMP serves beautifully due to its dimensions, for this having a portable size of 14.5” in height and an efficient system that runs on 3 AAA batteries.
